When Middle-Aged Women Feel Unappreciated: Choosing a Self-Full Life

When You Are the One Who Shows Up for Everyone, But No One Shows Up for You There is a kind of heartbreak that does not always come from romance, death, or betrayal. Sometimes it comes from being overlooked by the very people you have spent years supporting. It comes from being the dependable one. The strong one. The one who helps with paperwork, family problems, emotional breakdowns, court situations, divorces, money stress, moving plans, childcare, aging parents, adult children, and everyone’s emergencies. Then one day, something beautiful happens in your life. You accomplish something hard. You survive a season that almost broke you. You graduate. You heal. You rebuild. Avoid Stress by aiming for a Healthy Balanced Life

Key Points to consider when trying to live a balanced life:

  1. Avoid stress by becoming organized-  Use a paper or digital calendar to schedule your life including reminders-  Plan ahead-  Set alarms and allow ample time to prepare and be on time-  Put clothing out the night before-  Prep and label meals for a few days ahead
  2. Communicate your needs or desires- Share with family members or roommates the important role they play in achieving your goals-  Follow up with reminders via text or email-  Be kind and concise when making request
  3. Make healthier choices daily/Selfcare-  It may help to keep a food diary to have a visual of areas you want to put more effort-  Reduce sugar cravings by drinking more water, substitute water for as many drinks as possible-  Try different fruits and vegetables by integrating them into your cooking-  Increase exercise by simply walking more daily- Devote time daily to paying attention and addressing your self-care needs, i.e. more rest, a soothing bath, massage, a haircut or manicure
  4. Relationships- Nurture them by creating boundaries and being more open to listening to understand than a reply, and be okay with agreeing to disagree.  What's more important, being right or having healthy relationships with your family and friends?
  5. Spirituality/Social Life-  Invest in what brings you peace-  Meditation?  Hikes? Religion?  Worship?
  6. Career, Education, Finances - Set goals and write/plan them out-  Plan ahead for now and long-term- Discuss with trusted individuals that will help keep you be accountable and want to see you succeed
This is designed to be a guideline.  It is not easy to always live a balanced life, but with planning and accountability it is possible.  If you are looking for more help, please schedule a FREE Health History ( Consultation dedicated to YOU and discussing what is important to you and your history relating to all of the points involved with helping you to live a balanced life.)
